Metro: Last Light no longer coming to Wii U

In somewhat disappointing news, a THQ representative went on the record today saying that Metro: Last Light will not be getting a WiiU version after all.

The highly anticipated sequel to one of 2010’s most unique shooters was one of the WiiU’s most exciting titles. However, Mark Madsen revealed today to Digital Spy (opens in new tab) that THQ has opted to focus on 360, PS3, and PC versions instead.

“Not at the moment, it’s not in development,” said Madsen, a Global Brand Manager at THQ. “If it does happen, it won’t [simultaneously ship] with the other SKUs, but if the opportunity arises we’ll take a look at it.”

“No I don’t think it was a bit too early [to show the game at E3]. As we got along in the development process, we just really wanted to focus on what we knew, focus on PS3, 360 and PC.”

While Madsen did not say as much, it’s hard to imagine THQ’s heavy financial woes didn’t play a role in this decision. Perhaps the company saw the WiiU’s family-friendly demographic as too risky of a gamble in troubled times.
