Tony Lee and Dan Boultwood confirmed for Weekender 3

Two of Britain’s top comic book creators to join in the festivities in Prestatyn next year

Some familiar faces are set to return to the SFX Weekender in February 2012. By popular demand, back for their second year after one of 2011’s most interesting and vibrant comics talks, we’re thrilled to welcome bestselling comics and audio drama writer Tony Lee ( Doctor Who , The Baker Street Irregulars ) and artist Dan Boultwood ( The Gloom , Agent Mom ).

It’s just over five months now until the UK’s greatest festival of sci-fi kicks off in Prestatyn – that’s 2-5 February 2012 to be exact – and our eagle-eyed readers will spot we’re making more announcements about who’ll be there.

Tony Lee (pictured on the right) is one of the UK’s most respected comic creators and a #1 New York Times Bestselling List Writer. He’s won fans on both sides of the Atlantic with his work on X-Men , Spider-Man , the ongoing Doctor Who comic series and various stories for 2000AD . Lee’s also renowned for his graphic novel adaptations of Pride And Prejudice And Zombies and a series of Anthony Horowitz novels, on which he collaborated with popular artist Dan Boultwood (left, above). Together the pair created MTV’s The Gloom and Agent Mom (with Stargate ‘s Alaina Huffman), Sherlock Holmes: The Baker Street Irregulars and Danger Academy . Readers of our sister title Comic Heroes will be familiar with Tony Lee’s San Diego Comic-Con report in the latest issue. It was at Comic-Con that Tony Lee announced he was writing a comic based on Lee David Zlotoff’s classic TV show MacGyver . Outside of comics he’s also written Fifth Doctor, Turlough, Tegan, Nyssa and Bernice Summerfield audio adventures for Big Finish.

Tony and Dan will take to the stage (“We already have an idea of a talk that involves making people act out a show that we put together like a comic…” they reveal, mysteriously) and sign autographs at our massive residential sci-fi event in February. They’ll be joining other recently announced Weekender guests including Eve Myles, Sylvester McCoy and Robert Rankin , plus Brian Blessed and Craig Charles. The SFX Weekender 3 takes place at the Prestatyn Sands holiday camp in north Wales on the first weekend in February. VIP tickets are almost sold out but there are still many other options available – book now by calling 08700 11 00 34 or head to for more information.
