Rockstar announces L.A. Noire pulp short story series

L.A. Noire: The Collected Stories will be released sequentially on the L.A. Noire website (opens in new tab) and then as an ebook by Mulholland Books. The stories include contributions from Batman contributor Andrew Vachss and Pulitzer nominee Joyce Carol Oates, whose story puts a new spin on the notorious Black Dahlia case previously covered in Ellroy’s own novel of the same name. Rockstar stresses that these aren’t your bog-standard novelizations: the titles expand on the world of the game, weaving characters and cases from the title into new stories.

The first story is excerpted on Rockstar’s site now – but if you ain’t no fan of all them fancy book-words, head over to the coming soon gallery (opens in new tab) for a look at the covers, which are pretty gorgeous all on their own. The complete collection will be released on June 6, once you’ve had a couple weeks within the game itself.
