Project Fedora and SpaceVenture Kickstarters reach funding goals

In the wake of the tremendous success of theDouble Fine Kickstarter (opens in new tab), many people assumed it was a flash-in-the-pan success that would never be replicated. They said that Kickstarter was a fad for funding, and that only people with star power like Tim Schafer could utilize it.

Today should go a long way toward proving those people wrong. Project Fedora (opens in new tab) (a futuristic noir comedy adventure) as well as SpaceVenture (opens in new tab) (a sci-fi space comedy) have both received over $500,000 as of this writing, which tops both of their goals.

There is still time left though. SpaceVenture still has about 18 hours left, while Project Fedora still has four days. If you’re interested in either, now’s the time to lay down your cash, and get in on the ground floor.

Kickstarter has proven to be an incredible resource for the gaming community. It has a talent for resurrecting supposedly dead genres, however it has yet to prove that it can do more than that.

Original game ideas are still quite sparse, and most successful gaming Kickstarters rely on star power and/or nostalgia. We’re just hoping the gravy train will continue once the fans’ nostalgia has been sated.
