NIS America announced today that they have set a firm date for when they’ll be bringing the exceptionally bizarre RPGish-type-thing Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 to the PlayStation Network.
Currently the date is set for August 7, 2012 in North America and August 8, 2012 in Europe. But why is this game so bizarre, you ask? To put it succinctly, it stars scantily clad young female anime characters who represent all of the different gaming consoles in the industry’s history. They inhabit a world called, “Gamindustri.”
An off-the-wall concept like that is enough to give Katamari Damacy (the first one, before they started trying too hard) and Cho Aniki a run for their money.
HDN mk2 scored modestly better with critics than the original game, but still wasn’t a lauded success. In our own review (opens in new tab), we found that while it had some problems with repetitive gameplay, it was sometimes worth it for the cheeky humor and gaming references.
