Edge names Valve developer of the year

Our sister publication Edge has named the winner of its first-ever developer awards, and–if you do much PC gaming–chances are it’s one of your favorites, too. Out of 50 studios ranked for both technical and creative merit demonstrated over recent years, Valve took the cake.

“Valve is named our number one because it is driving the future like no other developer,” Edge editor Alex Wiltshire said. “It’s in control of its destiny, it empowers its fans, and it’s continually experimenting with new ways of selling games and ways to play with them. And all the while, the quality and ambition of its games are second to none.”

Valve is keeping good company, having edged out Minecraft developer Mojang at No. 2 and Nintendo EAD at No. 3. Check out Edge’s 250th issue, available on newsstands and online today, for the rest of the list and more.
