The Possession has released a creepy new clip online, in which young Natasha Calis tries to get to the bottom of something she can feel in her throat. Needless to say, her discovery is not a pretty one.
The film sees Calis play Em, a young girl who becomes strangely preoccupied with a mysterious wooden box she purchased at a neighbourhood yard sale. As her behaviour grows more bizarre, her parents (Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick) become understandably concerned.
Upon examination, the box is revealed to display a unique marking that signifies the presence of a dibbuk within. For those without a working knowledge of the supernatural, a dibbuk is a displaced spirit that inhabits and eventually consumes its human host. It’s not very nice, in short.
Take a look at the new clip, below…
Yes, that was a human hand you saw peeking its way out of a little girl’s windpipe. And who said there were no new ideas left in the horror genre? If nothing else, that’s at least one indelible image The Possession can lay claim to.
Directed by Ole Bornedal and produced by Sam Raimi, The Possession will open in the UK on 31 August 2012.
