Sinister director to helm Stephen King adaptation

Scott Derrickson’s Sinister is one of the more chilling options for moviegoers this Halloween, and it looks as though the director has no plans to abandon the genre just yet, with an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Breathing Method reportedly in the works.

Derrickson will reportedly team up with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Pictures (the company that brought you Paranormal Activity ) to adapt the tale, with Scott Teems in place to write the script.

The story is set within an exclusive gentleman’s club, in which membership is paid by the telling of stories. One such tale follows the plight of a woman in the ‘30s, who seeks out a doctor famed for his “breathing method” of childbirth, in order to deliver her illegitimate child.

The novella is taken from King’s Different Seasons collection, and would complete a full house of adaptations from its pages, following The Shawshank Redemption , Stand By Me and Apt Pupil .

However, with several other King adaptations currently mired in development hell, lets hope Derrickson has more luck with this one than some of his contemporaries.
