Justice League Dark movie rumored for 2016 shoot

Even without the assured horrormeister Guillermo del Toro at the helm of the Justice League Dark movie, Warner Bros. is rumored to be pushing forward on the project. Seeing as del Toro spent a considerable chunk of time developing the film, titled Dark Universe, he will still act as one of two producers alongside Scott Rudin, who is now said to be onboard.

“Sources confirm that Rudin is moving quickly on this one,” reads The Tracking Board‘s report, “making updates to the script and approaching directors. The project is now a priority for Warner Bros., with our sources also reporting that the studio is looking to shoot the superhero team-up film in 2016.”

If those same sources speak the truth then we’ve also got an inkling of what’s in store, as the plot is said to involve “a series of ancient tomes stolen by a madman hellbent on the destruction of humanity. When he learns of this, occult detective John Constantine seeks out a group of heroes that specialize in the mystic and arcane in order to save the world.”

No word on which members of the JLD will make the leap from page to screen, but we do know the group will co-exist in the same ‘world’ as the main Justice League — you know, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman — the same way The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy both operate within Marvel’s universe.
