Jurassic Park 4 has taken a significant step forward with the appointment of a new director in the form of Safety Not Guaranteed helmer Colin Trevorrow.
Trevorrow had recently been mentioned as a dark horse to take up the reins on Star Wars: Episode VII , but it seems that he’ll be coming aboard another mega-franchise instead.
Producer Frank Marshall took to Twitter to give his take on the news, tweeting, “Thrilled to have director on JP4 , Colin Trevorrow, an exciting young filmmaker who understands and respects the world that is Jurassic Park .”
The announcement was broken in an official press release, which also confirmed that the fourth instalment of the dino-series will be filmed in 3D.
It’s a huge gig for Trevorrow, who will be working from a script written by Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes duo, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Filming is set to begin this year, ahead of a proposed opening on 13 June 2014. Hold onto your butts…
