GameStop no longer selling PSP games at 25% of stores

If you’ve been holding off on buying that copy of Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core, you’d better get to your local GameStop quick, because it looks like GameStop has begun phasing out PSP games from some of their stores.

According to a report from Kotaku (opens in new tab), GameStop has started making room for new merchandise in roughly one quarter of its stores. According to the report, which cites an unnamed representative of GameStop, the corporation will be phasing the system out at only its smallest stores. It also sounds like that merchandise will make its way to the larger stores to supply a better selection.

“The consolidation is occurring to maximize the merchandising space in the smallest 25% of stores,” a GameStop representative told Kotaku. “It will also provide a greater assortment in those stores that will continue to carry the category.”

With PlayStation Vita now well into its first year of life, it’s only a matter of time until the aged PSP system is put to rest. This may also be a great time to start looking for some deals on PSP software. Glance through our highest rated PSP games (opens in new tab) and see if there are any holes left in your collection.
