It sounds like a Final Fantasy 12 remake is on the way UPDATE – maybe not

UPDATE

We reported earlier of Arnie Roth’s announcement of a incoming remake of Final Fantasy 12. However, it appears that wasn’t quite what he meant. “In response to comments posted by fans, I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy concert in Pittsburgh,” says Roth the Distant Worlds Facebook (opens in new tab) page. “Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from Final Fantasy XII, regrettably, the term ‘remake’ was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert. We sincerely regret any confusion this has caused.” Whether that error was the term ‘remake’ instead of ‘remaster’, time will tell.

Original Story

We say ‘sounds like’ but conductor Arnie Roth at the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert held in Pittsburgh over the weekend sounded pretty confident when he announced that a Final Fantasy 12 remake is in the works. You can see the full announcement in the fan video below.

With Gamescom fast approaching – ie tomorrow – it’s definitely not outside the realms of possibility that we’ll be getting an official confirmation of this during the week. Whether this will be a full on remake or a lick of HD remaster paint for the Marmite-like PS2 classic that divided fans, we’ll just have to wait and see.
