Assassins Creed Embers trailer offers a glimpse of Ezios final years

When it hits this November, Assassin’s Creed Revelations will allegedly be the final chapter in the story of Renaissance-era Assassin Ezio Auditore (after which the series’ action will presumably move on to a different time period). If you just can’t let the increasingly grizzled Assassin go, however, take heart: publisher Ubisoft today announced that it’ll roll out an animated short, titled Assassin’s Creed Embers, to fill in some of the details of Ezio’s twilight years.

Set to release alongside Revelations (both as a pack-in with the pre-order Signature Edition from GameStop, and as a download on Xbox Live and PSN), Embers features a version of Ezio that’s even older than the salt-and-pepper warrior we’ve seen in Revelations. And while the trailer promises a look at Old Ezio’s family life (which appears to involve a vineyard, a daughter and a much younger wife who’s the spitting image of his old flame, Caterina Sforza), a fight with a hooded attacker also suggests that Ezio’s retirement won’t be short on action. Whatever happens, the short looks awfully slick, and it should make for a compelling bonus for fans who want to spend just a little more time with Ezio.
