Guy Ritchie looks to have found his leading partnership for his adaptation of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. , with Armie Hammer in line to star opposite the already confirmed Tom Cruise.
Cruise is already in place to play one of a pair of agents of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement, and Deadline is reporting that Hammer has agreed to play the other.
The original series followed agents Napoleon Solo and Ilya Kuryakin as they battled against the evil organisation known as T.H.R.U.S.H., with an array of nerd-pleasing gadgets and gizmos to help them on their way.
It’s thought that Cruise will be playing Solo, while Hammer takes the role of Kuryakin, although that has yet to be definitively confirmed at this point.
The project has been long in the pipeline at Warner, with Steven Soderbergh initially pegged to direct George Clooney in the Cruise role. With Ritchie now on board, and the leading roles cast, expect to hear more from this one over the coming weeks…
