7 new Blade Runner 2049 pics show Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford looking right at home

Blade Runner practically defined the vision of a cyberpunk future, so fans have been understandably anxious to see if the long-awaited sequel, Blade Runner 2049 (opens in new tab), will live up to its legacy. If yesterday’s trailer (opens in new tab) and seven new pics published by Entertainment Weekly (opens in new tab) today are anything to go by though, I think we can all stop holding our breath. For now.

EW’s pics run the gamut from promotional images to on-set stills and behind-the-scenes captures. The focus is clearly on Ryan Gosling, but Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Ridley Scott, and even director Denis Villeneuve are highlighted as well. Take a look:

Personally, my favorite thing about these pics are the cars. Look at their chunky thickness, that wonderful half-analog, half-digital futurism that defined so many films of the ’80s. It’s all sharp angles and neon lights. If nothing else, I’d say Blade Runner 2049 has got the aesthetic nailed. Now to wait and see how well it tells its tale.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, and Harrison Ford, Blade Runner 2049 will be released in cinemas on October 6, 2017.
