It’s not just Marvel and DC getting in on the TV action – The Hollywood Reporter says (opens in new tab) that a new show based on Image Comics’ Hack/Slash is in the works over at Relativity Television, a spin-off of Relativity Media. Skip Woods, screenwriter for A Good Day to Die Hard, will serve as executive producer.
Created in 2004 by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, Hack/Slash follows heroine Cassie as she roams the world with her burly, cleaver-wielding protector, Vlad. In a deconstruction and defiance of horror movie tropes and clichés, it’s this mini-skirt wearing girl who hunts down the slashers that would normally prey on teenagers.
Think: Dexter, if Dexter was a questionably dressed lady-goth and his victim was Michael Myers. Actually, Dexter once showed up in a crossover with Cassie and Vlad, along with Jason Voorhees.
Hack/Slash is still in the planning stages for now, so it seems a fair way off. But if I know my slasher movies, I’m sure it will sneak up on us when we least expect it.
