The decision to kill Superman at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (opens in new tab) felt silly for a few reasons, not least because it was obvious that it wasn’t going to take. Indeed, Warner Bros. aren’t even pretending to play along, with various marketing materials for Justice League (opens in new tab) showing Superman standing alongside the rest of the team.
In any case, the Man of Steel could be sporting a black costume when he is inevitably resurrected if Henry Cavill’s latest Instagram post in anything to go by. Check it out below…

Batman v Superman incorporated a few elements from The Death of Superman comic book arc – which also had Supes in a black ‘recovery’ suit – and that’s likely what Zack Snyder is paying homage to here.
For those curious in the black suit #Superman, go and read ‘Reign of the Supermen’ and the eventual return! pic.twitter.com/yMiR9gXiJkAugust 15, 2016

We’re still in the dark as to how Superman gets resurrected (although rumour has it that Lex Luthor is involved) or why he ditches his classic suit for a black one, but it probably won’t be long before Kal-El pulls a Michael Jordan and goes back to his signature red and blue duds.
Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, J.K. Simmons, Amber Heard, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher, Justice League: Part 1 is currently scheduled for a November 17, 2017 release.
