No Mans Sky has gone gold and Hello Games is well chuffed about it

Development on No Man’s Sky (opens in new tab) is finally done, as shared on Twitter by Hello Games founder Sean Murray. The PS4 and PC game, which was first teased to the public at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards show in December 2013 and was at the center of a secret legal battle with UK broadcaster Sky (opens in new tab), is finally ready to blast off into the Sony Certification System.

It’s happened. No Man’s Sky just went gold. I’m so incredibly proud of this tiny team. 4 years of emotions pic.twitter.com/YJoI6JVgxqJuly 7, 2016

That’s Murray holding a disc with an entire universe on it and wearing an “I haven’t left the studio in two months” beard. Hopefully this happy news will make all the folks who sent death threats about the two-month delay (opens in new tab) feel very bad about themselves and Murray can finally go home to get some damn sleep. At least until the game comes out on August 9 in the US and August 10 in the UK, anyway.
