Nepal court jails Canadian tourist for 7 years for child sex abuse

KATHMANDU, Nepal – A court official in Nepal says a Canadian tourist with several previous child sex convictions has been sentenced to seven years in prison for sexually abusing a minor boy.

The Lalitpur district court said that Ernest Fenwick MacIntosh, 71, from the province of Nova Scotia, was also ordered to pay $10,000 to the victim.

MacIntosh was detained by the police in December after the victim filed a complaint with police.

MacIntosh arrived in Nepal on a tourist visa in August 2014, and officials say he was a frequent visitor to a children’s shelter where the boy lived.
