With Daredevil and Jessica Jones – and Luke Cage on its way next year – Netflix and Marvel have already introduced us to three of The Defenders (opens in new tab). The final piece of that puzzle is Iron Fist (aka Danny Rand) and we now have confirmation on who will be the showrunner for the highly anticipated series as well as a short synopsis.
Both ComicBook.com (opens in new tab) and Heroic Hollywood (opens in new tab) are reporting that Dexter veteran Scott Buck has landed the showrunner gig for Iron Fist, with Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb stating that: “Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet. We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we’ve found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders.”
Of all The Defenders, Iron Fist is the least grounded. His skill-set includes a superpowered punch, and his backstory includes a mystical city. For Buck’s part, he said: “I’ve always been drawn to writing complex, intriguing characters, and that’s what most excites me about the opportunity to bring Danny Rand and Iron Fist to life with Marvel on Netflix”.
Check out the first official synopsis for Iron Fist below…
Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
We guess the next step will be casting, but who will play the latest Netflix hero for hire?
