Dane DeHaan is one of a whole raft of new faces set to appear in forthcoming sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , and the star has been talking up the film’s prospects as a superior follow-up.
“It’s awesome, it really is,” gushes DeHaan. “It’s human and it’s deep and it’s also epic and still a huge superhero movie. But it all makes sense and it all comes from very human elements and I think people are really going to love it.”
DeHaan plays Harry Osborn in the film, a character who doesn’t have a terribly happy story arc in the Spider-Man universe, as played out in Sam Raimi’s original trilogy.
Whether or not DeHaan’s incarnation will be seen taking an immediate turn towards the dark side remains to be seen, but given that Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti are already on villain duties as Electro and Rhino respectively, we’d say it seems unlikely.
Directed by Marc Webb and co-starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Chris Cooper, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will open in the UK on 18 April 2014.
