His stint on True Detective might have left Colin Farrell hankering for something with a little more cheer, as THR reports that he has signed on for a role in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. According to their sources Farrell is destined will play Graves, a New York City wizard.
The Harry Potter spinoff has been adding cast members slowly to the ranks over recent months. Farrell joins Eddie Redmayne, who plays the titular character, Scamander, along with Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol. While the movie will be set in the same cinematic world as Harry Potter, it’s located some 70 years prior to the events of the original franchise.
J.K. Rowling wrote the script that follows Scamander’s life amongst the witches and wizards of New York. Potter alumni David Yates and David Heyman return to direct and produce, respectively.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is targeting a November 18, 2016 release date.
